“If you are ready to get organized, congratulations!  You are on your way to a more relaxed life!  First things first, get your mindset right.  Make sure you are ready for this very fun, important step in the right direction.  When you are ready, pick just one small area to start with. Try a linen or hall closet. Starting small helps you see results faster and will keep you motivated.  You will first need to declutter. Throw out anything old and expired.  Donate anything that is still good but you are not using anymore.  Then, you are left with only the things you love, make you happy, and that you will actually use.

Sort your items into groups and categorize like items with like items. Separate and put into bins or containers for easy access and most importantly, easy to put away when you are done using it.  You don’t have to spend a lot of money to get organized, but having some bins on hand can definitely help you.  It’s time to get started! You CAN get organized!”

“For every new item you bring into your home, you should eliminate one item that is no longer useful or valid. This will maintain storage space in your home. For those living in a home without enough storage space, for every new item brought into said space, at least two items should be eliminated. Over time, practicing this will help to gain storage space. ” – Zenna

“How, how do some live a clutter-free, organized life? Definitely a loaded question, but I think that the key is making sure that you have created homes for things in your home. If you do not designate homes for items then there is a propensity for clutter to happen. Now, you may not have a home for everything you bring into your home, but you do have similar items so you have an idea where this new item may go.

Another key is asking yourself if this item comes home with me, where will it live; this goes for items that you purchase and even items that are given to you. In my house, we are very intentional about what comes home with us. I love kitchen gadgets but I have to be careful because I don’t have the space for all the new and cool gadgets out there, so often I am asking myself, ‘Kelly, do you really need this?’

If we are honest, the answer to that question is most often no…because most things we don’t need, we just want. By limiting the number of things that come into your home, the less clutter you will have.

Now, how do I keep everything organized….simple! I put things away where they belong. Yes, there are lots of times where I would love to be lazy and not put it away, but I tell myself, ‘My future self will thank me if I do this now instead of later.’ So I do it. Every night before I go to bed everything is back in it’s assigned home. Since I have already designated the homes for things in my home, putting things away is much easier and quicker.” – Kelly
